Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2024 • Version 2.1

Gavett is a London residential building contractor committed to transparent, responsible handling of personal data and technical documents. This policy explains how we process information collected through our enquiry form and during project procurement.

Strict Purpose Limitation

Data is gathered solely to quote, manage, and execute residential construction contracts.

Encrypted Storage

All drawings, site notes, and client contact details reside on secured UK servers.

No Third-Party Resale

We never sell or distribute client contacts to external marketing networks.

1. Information we collect

Section 1.0

Data submitted via our enquiry form and direct project communications.

When you submit an enquiry regarding a residential alteration, extension, loft conversion, or architect-led build, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, London site postcode/address, property type (such as Victorian terraced, detached, or apartment), and preliminary architectural drawings or project briefs you provide.

Legal Basis: Contractual necessity & legitimate interests to assess project viability and provide detailed estimates.

2. How your data is used

Section 2.0

Strictly for project appraisal, site surveys, and construction management.

We use your personal data exclusively to review structural specifications, schedule site visits, issue project estimates, and liaise with your appointed architect, structural engineer, or party wall surveyor. We do not use your information for automated profiling or unrelated commercial mailings.

Legal Basis: Direct project delivery and principal contractor duties under UK building regulations.

3. Storage and data security

Section 3.0

Encrypted storage and controlled access for all project records.

All digital submissions, architectural plans, and client communications are stored on secure UK/EU-hosted encrypted cloud servers with role-based access restrictions. Only authorized project managers and technical surveyors access your contact records.

Legal Basis: Compliance with UK Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR standard practices.

4. Third-party disclosure

Section 4.0

No data trading. Disclosures limited to necessary site consultants.

We never sell or rent client data. Information is shared only with verified trade subcontractors, structural engineers, or building control officers directly involved in executing or inspecting your specific build, and only to the extent necessary to perform their technical duties.

Legal Basis: Execution of construction contract and statutory safety obligations.

5. Data retention periods

Section 5.0

Held during the project lifecycle and statutory guarantee periods.

Enquiry submissions that do not proceed to contract are deleted after 12 months. For completed construction projects, technical documentation, warranties, and correspondence are retained for up to 12 years to support structural guarantees and building control records.

Legal Basis: Statutory limitation periods for deed-based construction contracts in the UK.

6. Your statutory rights under UK GDPR

Section 6.0

Full rights of access, rectification, portability, and erasure.

You hold the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate records, or request complete erasure where statutory construction record obligations permit. To exercise any of these rights, contact our data coordinator directly.

Legal Basis: Articles 15 through 22 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation.
